Training Biomedical Research Teams for Rigor and Reproducibility in Data Science Funded

The CEDER evaluation team will partner with the Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS) on a new training program for biomedical researchers.

Shiawassee Scholars Program funded

CEDER will conduct a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative evaluation of outcomes related to the Shiawassee Scholars program. Led by evaluation specialist Kolby Gadd, PhD, CEDER’s evaluation work will focus on academic outcomes that rely on data that have not been available to the program in the past, including information from U-M and other databases about students' grades, majors, and graduation status. This evaluation work will further focus on a description of the experiences and accomplishments of Shiawassee Scholars.

Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators (MAISA) Contract Funded

CEDER will perform a program evaluation of the Essentials in Action Project with the Michigan Association of Intermediate Schools Administrators (MAISA). The evaluation team will use the five levels of the Guskey Framework to guide and organize the evaluation work and also add a teaching math self efficacy component. CEDER will specify descriptive and quasi experimental designs with comparison groups for formative and summative evaluation.

CEDER team presents model for supporting sustainability education partnerships

A team of CEDER staff were selected to present at the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) Conference. In 2022 the conference gathered educators, policymakers, and partners from throughout the world in Tucson, Arizona to share strategies for accomplishing NAAEE’s mission of using the power of education to advance environmental literacy and civic engagement to create a more equitable and sustainable future.

Design project for the MAISA/GELN Disciplinary Literacy Essentials funded

A team comprising leaders of the Disciplinary Literacy Task Force, including CEDER Design Coordinator Darin Stockdill, will develop a series of courses for secondary classroom educators as part of a statewide professional learning initiative of the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators' General Education Leadership Network.

Carl Haynes-Magyar and Nathan Haynes-Magyar, developers of Codespec, were awarded the James A. Kelly Learning Lever Prize for their adaptable and adaptive computer programming practice environment.
