Projects

The center supports collaborative projects designed to advance new scholarship, tools, and practices that extend and expand how we conceptualize learning. Led by center faculty, our projects are in various stages of development and ideation. Learn more about some of our current projects below.

An innovative instructional approach to engaging University of Michigan students with local middle school students to collaborate on digital wellness and positive mental health.
Guided by an advisory board, this project is developing a tool for evaluating education apps based on reliable research.
This project explores the unique design of the LEAPS program to ask essential questions about the nature of learning, helping students rethink traditional education and envision broader possibilities for social transformation.
This project designs tools and practices to help learners move beyond climate awareness toward meaningful, equitable action in K-16 settings.
This project examines how instructional coaching conversations support teachers in responding to student needs, reflecting on their own practices, and developing inclusive instructional strategies.
We are exploring the powerful role of storytelling to broaden how we recognize, value, and talk about learning.
A partnership with Detroit’s Corn Wine Oil Farms to design curriculum materials and resources to support youth learning about agriculture.
A pilot study of local knowledge, design principles and values of intergenerational, cross-disciplinary interest holders about their approach to the design of learning and care spaces that center youth wellness.
A working group exploring the evolving role of generative AI in learning and teaching.
