Co-Designing Purposeful Spaces & Homeplaces: An Intergenerational Learning Experiment

A pilot study of local knowledge, design principles and values of intergenerational, cross-disciplinary interest holders about their approach to the design of learning and care spaces that center youth wellness.

Share

As a team of learning scientists, health care providers and community & youth-centered researchers, our interests lie in the development of a set of co-design principles that will guide a future place-based project (e.g., a publicly accessible space, interactive exhibit or modest installation in Detroit) designed for and with young people for the purpose of supporting wellness.

This pilot project will include an initial set of interviews with community members who are already thinking about design justice, holistic youth wellness and place-based learning. Insights taken from the analysis of preliminary interview data will be used to inform the design of a larger-scale project.
