Disciplinary Literacy Online Course
Online introductory course on disciplinary literacy and disciplinary literacy instruction (fee-based) leverages expertise of Dean Elizabeth Birr Moje and Dr. Darin Stockdill.

Disciplinary literacy instruction—teaching students to become proficient thinkers, readers, and writers in different academic disciplines—has been shown to support students’ literacy achievement and increase their access to deeper content knowledge. This course was developed in partnership with Teach Away, a provider of online professional development courses, to train educators in disciplinary literacy instructional practices. Leveraging the expertise of Dean Elizabeth Birr Moje and Dr. Darin Stockdill, Instructional and Program Design Coordinator, Center for Education Design, Evaluation, and Research (CEDER), participants will have access to the tools, knowledge, and strategies needed to successfully develop students' reading and writing capabilities in different disciplines. While the course is geared toward secondary school teachers, any educator will find value in the course’s methods for improving student learning. Course participants receive a professional certificate upon course completion, and may earn continuing education credits.
