GREML 2012 Collection Development
PERIOD:
TO
Over the past two years, we have offered an intensive mathematics summer program for fourth graders at Steelcase University in Grand Rapids. The week-long Grand Rapids Elementary Mathematics Laboratory (GREML) serves underachieving youth in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area, offering two and a half hours of math instruction each morning, and then, after lunch and supervised recreation, a professionally-led fine arts program. Dozens of education professionals from the region observed the program and participated in special workshops to develop their own skills. Each year, we collect high quality videos and other classroom documentation during GREML to be used by University of Michigan researchers. With support from the Baldwin Foundation, we hope to make this collection more broadly available for use by education professionals both in Grand Rapids and beyond.
