Enhancing The Capacity Of State Educational Technology Leaders To Use Research Evidence To Translate Policy Into Practice

Despite emerging evidence that research-practice partnerships (RPPs) present an opportunity to meaningfully connect research, policy, and practice, few studies have focused on state education agencies, and none have engaged state educational technology leaders.
The project team at FullScale, a national K-12 education non-profit, will collaborate with Anita Caduff from the University of Michigan and others to conduct a mixed-methods study of an RPP involving state educational technology leaders affiliated with the State Educational Technology Directors Association (SETDA). This three-year study expands on FullScale's prior partnership work with multiple state education agencies by incorporating social network analysis to test hypotheses related to how the connections developed through participation in an RPP serve as a catalyst to improve the use of evidence by state educational technology directors as they develop policy, guidance, and resources for edtech selection, implementation, and evaluation.
