Bosch/SOE K-12 STEM Education Planning and Development

The University of Michigan Marsal Family School of Education proposes a multi-component response to address the needs of the Bosch Community Fund in regard to its initiatives related to supporting and improving K-12 STEM education. Under the direction of Professor Edward Silver, this project will be undertaken by the Center for Education Design, Evaluation, and Research (CEDER). In this initial one-year planning phase grant, we will design and enact a set of steps intended to establish a foundation for future development. It is anticipated that a multi-year, multi-dimensional effort will evolve over time as data become available to assess the impact of ongoing efforts.
The overarching goal of this partnership with the Bosch Community Fund is to enhance the impact of the BE 3 ST Grant Program by building capacity, building community, and building knowledge in the areas of energy, environment, engineering, science, technology, and mathematics. The planning phase of this project will focus on four main areas:
1. Developing an evaluation plan for the BE 3 ST Grant Program
2. Establishing administrative systems to scale the BE 3 ST Grant Program
3. Convening and supporting a network and professional learning community for STEM educators
4. Exploring the Bosch Doctoral Fellowship in STEM Education at the Marsal Family School of Education
