Promoting Sustainable Futures through Youth Action Projects is a year-long initiative in Saginaw County that supports eight K-12 teachers and more than 500 students as they co-develop and implement sustainability action projects.
Coordinated by the Sustainability Teacher Fellowship (STF) at the University of Michigan’s Marsal Family School of Education, this program must equip youth and educators to collaboratively tackle urgent local issues affecting the environment, the economy, and community well-being. The project will serve educators of K-12 Saginaw County youth by providing professional development, classroom mini-grants, and mentorship, targeting efforts to support underrepresented and high-need populations. By empowering youth and educators as changemakers, the initiative enhances watershed literacy, builds leadership, and generates lasting, positive community impact. Saginaw Community Foundation funding will provide crucial mini-grants and educator stipends that make these experiences possible.
