The Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching Measures: Refreshing the Item Pool

Merrie Blunk will oversee the development of the new Teacher Knowledge Assessment System (TKAS) which provides an online platform for the administration of the Learning Mathematics for Teaching measures of Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT). Stephen Schilling will be responsible for and oversee all psychometric analyses and IRT scoring of subjects. Heather Hill at Harvard University will be overseeing the writing of new MKT items to be piloted through TKAS. The work will result in 10+ new forms in the most widely used topics and grades along with a new form containing solely fractions items, alignment of the new items and forms to the Common Core State Standards, creation of additional equated forms for re-administration of measures without repeating forms, and the establishment of a common comparison group or baseline that can be referenced by users of the elementary number and operations measures.
