This project aims to implement writing-to- learn pedagogies in large, gateway courses in the college of Literature, Science, & the Arts as well as the College of Engineering. Writing-to- learn is a technique in which students engage in complex course material through writing. In this project, the technique will be implemented by using a Comprehensive Writing System consisting of systems of automated peer review and one that provides automatic text analysis which provides data to the faculty, as well as a partnership with E2Coach, which gives feedback to each student individually. It is anticipated that over 10,000 students will have access to an engaged learning experience by using the writing-to- learn pedagogies throughout the course of the 5-year project.
