Dr. Christina Weiland will collaborate with colleagues at the Urban Institute to evaluate the impacts of Washington, DC's universal preschool program on three year olds.
Using the naturally occurring lotteries generated by DC's school assignment algorithm, the researchers will estimate the impacts of an offer of a slot in the program and of actually enrolling. The team will also examine heterogeneity across important student subgroups (defined by family income, race/ethnicity, and gender). Findings will contribute to research the effects of preschool on three year olds.
