The Iterative Development of Modules to Support Teachers' Engagement in Exploring Language and Meaning in Text with English-Language Learners

This project will develop, trial, and refine a set of five modules, supported by print and video materials, tentatively called Exploring Language and Meaning in Text. The modules will offer teachers of ELLs in grades 2-5 a set of strategies for exploring and talking about the language of texts in their adopted reading programs, enabling them to go beyond decoding and vocabulary in focusing on language at the sentence and text levels to support reading comprehension and writing development.
