A Design Project for Oakland Schools

Darin Stockdill, PhD will lead this design project that will support the disciplinary literacy initiative Beyond the Core, a project of the Oakland Schools Intermediate School District in association with the Essential Practices for Disciplinary Literacy Instruction in the Secondary Classroom.
Beyond the Core is a collaborative effort to support teachers of design, visual and performing arts, physical education, and other electives to adapt and apply the Essential Practices for Disciplinary Literacy Instruction to their content and classroom contexts in authentic and meaningful ways. As CEDER Design Coordinator, Stockdill will help Oakland Schools consultants with the development of research-based recommendations for practice, professional learning materials and activities, and adapted versions of the Disciplinary Literacy Essentials.
