With funding from W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Kresge Foundation, the purpose of the project is to audit the availability and take-up of publicly funded early childhood programs in Michigan overall, to identify geographic variation in access and enrollment, and to identify solutions to common Pre-K scale-up challenges from other localities.

This work is motivated by Governor Whitmer's goal of making the state’s Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) universally available to 4-year-old children in Michigan over the next few years.  The work will be led by Dr. Chris Weiland from the Marsal Family School of Education and the team from the Education Policy Initiative at Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
