Karen Reinhardt

Research and Design Specialist, Elementary Mathematics, TeachingWorks

Room 1111
610 E. University Ave.
Ann Arbor, Michigan 48109-1259

Karen Reinhardt is a Research and Design Specialist in elementary mathematics at TeachingWorks. In this role, Karen works mainly with K–8 teachers in districts around the country to improve their mathematics teaching practice, and attend to and disrupt patterns of inequity in their classrooms.

Before coming to TeachingWorks, Karen served as mathematics coordinator, coach, and interventionist at elementary and middle schools in Vermont, using strategies such as lesson study and data teams to support teachers in reflecting on and improving their instruction. She is a certified trainer for the Ongoing Assessment Project (OGAP) in multiplicative, fractional, and proportional reasoning, and facilitates OGAP workshops nationally. Karen started her career in education as a multi-age teacher in a small, rural Vermont school. Karen holds a BA in Child Study from Tufts University and a Master’s degree in Education in Administration and Supervision from Antioch New England Graduate School.

What is the core work of teaching, and what is required to learn it and to do it? Developing answers to these questions is at the center of our mission at TeachingWorks.
