All SOE programs that are considered specialty areas by U.S. News and World Report are also ranked in the top ten. There are seven specialty areas in which the SOE is highly ranked, including the #1 program in higher education, the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education. The specialty areas are selected by U.S. News & World Report and rankings are determined by the number of nominations that each school receives from education school deans and graduate studies deans who receive the survey.

Of the ten specialty areas selected by the publication, the SOE has programs in seven—all of which are ranked in the top ten:

#1 Higher Education
#2 Educational Psychology
#2 Elementary Teacher Education
#4 Secondary Teacher Education
#4 Curriculum and Instruction
#6 Education Policy
#9 Educational Administration

Dean Elizabeth Birr Moje said, “Today’s announcement is an exciting reflection of the outstanding preparation we offer to education professionals. We are proud to be recognized as a leading institution by our peers and across multiple criteria. Our work has never been more vital to the advancement of a civically engaged society.”
