Team 8280 K9.0 Robotics, The School at Marygrove’s high school robotics team, earned first place in their division at the state tournament, qualifying them for the FIRST Robotics World Championships. They’re off to Houston to compete—the first DPSCD school to do so in 18 years, reports WXYZ-TV Detroit | Channel 7.

Besides bringing home a banner after just four years in existence as a team—making them one of the most rookie teams in Michigan—they also won the statewide award for Gracious Professionalism, given to a team that shows exceptional sportsmanship and collaboration.

A Marygrove campus-wide clap-out after school on Monday cheered the team on before they flew out Tuesday morning, showing TSM preschoolers and the TSM elementary robotics team what’s possible!
