Dean Elizabeth Moje has been recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business as a 2023 Leader in Higher Education. Moje is among 26 honorees who were nominated by their peers, companies, and community. Crain’s Detroit Business editors selected recipients based on their track record of success and contributions to their fields and communities.

Among Moje’s many accomplishments, she is recognized by Crain’s editors for securing a $14.7 million gift to fund the Eileen Lappin Weiser Learning Sciences Center. In a feature introducing the 2023 Leaders in Higher Education, Moje is also cited for creating the Michigan Education Teaching School at the School at Marygrove, which includes an innovative three-year residency for early career teachers.

Rip Rapson, president and CEO of the Kresge Foundation, says of Moje: “She understands that equipping the next generation of educators can not only transform the trajectory of a student’s life opportunities but also lay the fundamental building blocks for long-term community health and stability.”
