Alaina Jackson, April Baker-Bell, and Vanessa Louis selected to serve on statewide Michigan Black Student Project (MiBSP) Task Force
The MiBSP is an initiative launched by the Michigan Education Justice Coalition.
Marsal School faculty members Alaina Jackson, April Baker-Bell, and Vanessa Louis have been selected to serve on the Michigan Black Student Project (MiBSP) Task Force, a state-funded, community-driven initiative focused on advancing educational equity for Black students across Michigan. MiBSP is a research initiative advocated for by community members and funded through Michigan state law to examine how schools can better support Black students through culturally responsive and relevant education, strengthen the recruitment and retention of Black and Brown educators, and dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline.
As task force members, they will collaborate with partners across the state to serve as a research oversight and stewardship body, guiding the ethical and methodological integrity of multiple projects, co-developing requests for proposals, and evaluating submissions while ensuring that community voices remain central throughout the research process.
