Marsal Education Huron River Clean-Up

Join the Ann Arbor Parks Volunteer Program and the Marsal Education Green Team for a canoe-based clean-up on Gallup Pond. This calm, scenic stretch of the Huron River is ideal for first-time paddlers.
Volunteers will be paired in canoes and provided with grabbers, bags, and all necessary supplies to remove litter from the water and shoreline.

Ann Arbor Parks provides:
Boats, paddles, and life vests (required and provided)
Trash grabbers, gloves, bags, and basic instructions
Friendly guidance
What volunteers need to bring:
- Weather-appropriate clothing that can get wet; Marsal gear is encouraged!
- Water shoes or strapped sandals are strongly encouraged
- A dry bag if bringing a phone; dry bags are available for purchase at the livery
- Water bottle and sun protection, such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
Gallup Park can get busy, so please carpool, bike, or arrive early when possible.
This is a low-current section of the river and is ideal for new paddlers. However, as with all paddling trips, there is a small risk of tipping, so please plan and dress accordingly.
If there are weather-related updates, Ann Arbor Parks will contact registered participants the evening before or the morning of the event.
