Gallup Park Canoe & Kayak

Join the Ann Arbor Parks Volunteer Program and the Marsal Education Green Team for a canoe-based clean-up on Gallup Pond. This is a calm, scenic stretch of the Huron River that is ideal for first-time paddlers. I did this with a Planet Blue Ambassadors group last year, and it was so much fun!

Tuesday, June 16 - 2:00–4:00 p.m. (you may leave at 1:30pm with your supervisor's approval)

Meeting Location: Gallup Park Canoe & Kayak

Carpooling is encouraged

Volunteers will be paired in canoes and provided with grabbers, bags, and all necessary supplies to remove litter from the water and shoreline.

Sign up here!

Ann Arbor Parks provides:

. Boats, paddles, and life vests (required and provided)
. Trash grabbers, gloves, bags, and basic instructions
. Friendly guidance

What volunteers need to bring:

. Weather-appropriate clothing that can get wet (Marsal gear is encouraged!)
. Water shoes or strapped sandals (strongly encouraged)
. A dry bag if bringing a phone (available for purchase at the livery)
. Water bottle and sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)

Gallup Park can get busy—please carpool, bike, or arrive early when possible.

This is a low-current section of the river, ideal for new paddlers—but as with all paddling trips, there is always a small risk of tipping. Plan and dress accordingly.

If there are any weather-related updates, Ann Arbor Parks will contact registered participants the evening before or morning of the event.
