Tribute - 1322

AI tools now make it possible to rapidly create highly realistic instructional videos that are “indistinguishable from real humans”, but the pedagogical implications of doing so remain underexplored. This work takes a design-based, experimental approach to understanding how learning designers can meaningfully leverage these tools while attending to issues of design decision-making, pedagogical transparency, and learner experience.

In this presentation, Dr. Rebecca Quintana and master’s graduate Annie Zhou talk about their experiences designing and testing AI-produced instructional videos for use in Massive Open Online Courses.

We offer an early look at our design exploration of AI-produced instructional videos, focusing on:

  • Our motivation for this work
  • Our emerging creative process
  • Rapid prototyping methods
  • Pedagogical transparency
  • Learner responses

Attendees will be invited to collectively walk through the process of script development, audio generation, and media design and production to prompt discussion about the possibilities, limitations, and open questions in this space.

This is an informal, works in progress conversation. Light snacks and beverages will be provided. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch!
