Event

1:00-2:30 p.m.
Event Location

In this discussion, we will hear from faculty at the University of Illinois and the University of Michigan about how they are transforming teaching and learning using XR technologies. We will explore how Dr. Robb Lindgren is using Augmented Reality to explore facilitation of small group collaborations in STEM learning for Astronomy. We will also hear from Dr. Rebecca Quintana about her Winter 2021 course that was taught entirely online with students exploring Extended Reality by using social VR platforms with the Oculus Quest as part of the XR Graduate Certificate Program at the University of Michigan. The talks will be followed by an open discussion with attendees and the presenters.

Attendees will learn:

  • How social learning approaches from the Learning Sciences can inform remote and in person instruction
  • How to effectively reimagine a hands-on, experiential course focused on extended reality (XR) for implementation in a fully online learning environment
