Stephen supports researchers in the Educational Studies department who focus on elementary mathematics teaching practice. His responsibilities include managing a database of classroom video recordings and digitized classroom paper materials; creating and editing derivatives, such as video clips, transcriptions, and presentations, used in teacher education and research dissemination; and maintaining multiple project websites, including @Practice, Organizing to Learn Practice, and Dev-TE@M, which communicate research findings to the public and recruit participants for studies.
Stephen graduated from the University of Michigan in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies. After a positive experience working as a student temporary employee for the 1600 suite at the SOE, he was offered a job as a Research Technician. With all the incredible work the University of Michigan and, specifically, the Educational Studies department at the SOE does for education—coupled with a team of compassionate individuals to work alongside—it was an easy decision for him to accept the position.
