Marvin W. Peterson, Professor Emeritus of Education, retired from the Marsal School's Higher Education faculty in 2007.
Peterson's primary academic and research interests are organizational and administrative behavior, management and leadership; institutional research and planning; managing institutional and system change and transformation; and organizational research methods. His teaching focuses on courses examining colleges and universities as complex organizations, institutional research and planning, managing institutional and system change, and administrative and leadership behavior.
Peterson received his B.Sc degree in engineering and mathematics from Trinity College (Conn.), his MBA from Harvard University, and his PhD in higher education and organizational psychology from the University of Michigan. He has been president of the Association for Institutional Research, the Association for Higher Education and the Society for College and University Planning. He is former director of the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education.
