Karen Young’s responsibilities include building and sustain Educator Preparation Program data systems, data analysis and reporting. In her role she serves as the accreditation and compliance lead ensuring programs meet accreditation and certification requirements.

Karen’s work at the Marsal School continues her mission to provide beginning teachers with robust training, mentoring, and resources aiming to provide stability in the teaching workforce and impact the leaders of tomorrow through the classrooms of today. Karen draws on 24 years of educational experience as a classroom teacher, principal, and district administrator in both brick and mortar and fully online schools. She uses her graduate work in curriculum and instruction to influence her work in analyzing data and supporting staff and faculty.

Karen holds a bachelor of arts in elementary teaching from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, a master’s in educational leadership from Chapman University, and a PhD in educational Leadership with a focus on curriculum and instruction from Concordia University-Chicago. She holds Michigan and California elementary teaching and K-8 Science and Social Studies teaching certificates. Karen also holds Michigan K-12 school administrator certification and currently is Director Emeritus of the Michigan Alternate Route Network.
