JPEE PhD candidate Sarah Hughes, along with colleagues Jianfen Chen and Nupoor Ranade, has won the 2024 Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) Technical and Scientific Communication Award in the category of Best Article on Pedagogy or Curriculum in Technical or Scientific Communication. Her winning article, “Reimagining student-centered learning: Accessible and inclusive syllabus design during and after the COVID-19 pandemic” was published in Volume 67 of Computers and Composition.

Hughes’ article was chosen from an outstanding field of submissions, note the members who comprised the award committee: chair Donie Johnson Sackey, Nikki Caswell, Holly Gallagher, David Grant, Temptaous Mckoy, Fernando Sánchez, and Ja’La Wourman.

Hughes’ research centers on narrative discourse: how the stories we tell reveal insight into ideology and how stories can activate audiences toward social action.
