Dual-degree student Leslie Tetteh awarded University of Michigan NASW Student of the Year
The National Association of Social Workers named dual-degree master's student Leslie Akua Asah Tetteh as the 2021 University of Michigan NASW Student of the Year.

Tetteh, who is scheduled to graduate in August 2021, is pursuing both a Master’s in Social Work with a concentration in Management of Human Services and a Master's in Higher Education with a concentration in Diversity and Social Justice. Dr. Rosie Perez serves as Tetteh's advisor in the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education.
Tetteh says, "Social justice is at the core of my social work and higher education practice. Through my social work and higher education coursework and internships, I’ve been able to understand how I can apply a social justice lens to make higher education more inclusive and accessible for all students."
The NASW awards ceremony was held virtually this year on Wednesday, March 31.
