CSHPE PhD student Nancy Allee honored for contributing to the Medical Library Association
Nancy Allee, CSHPE PhD student, was named a 2020 Presidential Award recipient by the Medical Library Association (MLA). Allee was honored for her contributions to the MLA’s “Futures Task Force,” committee, which laid the foundation from 2013–2014 to transform MLA communities.
The President’s Award is given to an MLA member who was selected by the association’s officers and Board of Directors for a notable contribution made during the past association year. The contributions enhanced the profession of health sciences librarianship or furthered the objectives of the association. This award went to Allee in recognition for serving in an MLA working group that advanced and transformed the fundamental structure of the association.
Nancy Allee is also the Director of Taubman Health Sciences Library and a joint faculty member of the Department of Learning Health Sciences for the U-M Medical School. She provides library leadership for the Health Sciences and STEM Division and works with the management team to plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services in the areas of academic and clinical engagement; research and informatics; collections, scholarly communication, and digital resources; and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Allee serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the Medical Library Association and Medical Reference Services Quarterly, is an Editorial Advisor to Evidence Based Library and Information Practice, and is Managing Assistant Editor for a new open access journal, Learning Health Systems. She is a member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals at the distinguished level.
