Wilson Fellows Grant Kick-Off: Developing Collaborative Classroom Cultures

Join us to kick off a year of exploration and collaboration around design thinking and standards-aligned (NGSS and CCSS) inquiry-based instruction. Our series of events will provide support and guidance for you to develop an innovative design-based learning experience in your classroom that teaches your content while also engaging your students.
In this first session, we will preview the entire program, share the criteria for the mini-grant application, and delve into the topic of Developing Collaborative Classroom Cultures (what we call DC3!). We’ll discuss important principles and practices for the development of your classroom culture, including some foundational ideas related to:
- how to set up routines and procedures to facilitate classroom management.
- how to develop a collaborative, supportive classroom culture in which thinking is valued.
- how to respond to disruptions and conflicts.
Registration is open to Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellows and is free. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. This event will be facilitated by Darin Stockdill, Design Coordinator for the Center for Education Design, Evaluation, and Research at the School of Education.
Parking is available on East University using ePark meters, or on Church Street using coin meters. There is also a paid parking structure on the corner of South Forest and Willard, which is only 2 blocks from the School of Education.
