[PEAR + dije] Bystander Intervention Workshop
(972) 832-8475
We encounter, witness, become aware of, and even cause power-based interpersonal harm every day. This can mean sexual misconduct or sexual harassment, but more often than not it's indirect, subtle, or even unintentionally harmful statements, actions, or incidents which intimidate, attempt to control, demean, or otherwise negatively impact individuals with less social power relative to our own. How can we engage power based harm on individual and collective levels to create inclusive, welcoming, and healthy workplaces?
Inclusive work environments are more than just optional; they're optimal in enhancing employee well-being and even mental and physical health. But, creating inclusive workplaces necessitates open, genuine dialogues about challenging topics such as sexism, homophobia, and racism. In this session we'll look at some of the research in this area, reflect on our own identities and experiences, and collaborate with coworkers to develop strategies to respond to power based interpersonal harm when we encounter it.
