Who
Secondary mathematics teachers in district teams or as individuals.

What
Eight online modules that help secondary mathematics teachers develop classroom practices that can create opportunities for students to develop proficiency with  the Standards for Mathematical Practice included in the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics.

Location
These modules are designed to be completed online. They can be completed whenever it is convenient for participants at home, within a range of weeks selected by the group contracting the service. Individual participants can do this before or after school, using the participants’ computers (need to be able to run Flash applications).

Time
Each of the eight modules are designed to engage participants in approximately 8 hours of online activity during a single month.  Altogether the course will take one school year to complete.

Description
Participants will use multimedia experiences to learn to identify examples of students’ enactment of each of the eight Standards for Mathematical Practice of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics 9 – 12.  Participants will also learn to notice teaching moves that serve to support students in the development of each of those practices.  Finally, for each standard, teachers will have an opportunity to use some of the ideas they are learning about in their own classrooms, share with others in the course, and get valuable feedback about how they can improve their instructional practice. Milewski will moderate the participant forums and give individual feedback to participants regarding their contributions.

Cost
$3,200 per teacher
$12,800 per team of 5 to 7 teachers
$16,000 per team of 8 to 10 teachers
