Odera serves as the Sustainability Education Programs Assistant for the Bosch Eco & STEM Teacher (BEST) Grant Program and Dow Sustainability Teacher Fellowship (DSTF) Program at the Center for Education Design, Evaluation, and Research (CEDER). Her work focuses on the programs’ administration, community outreach, database management, teacher support, and resource curation through the daily administration of both DSTF and BEST Teacher Grant Programs.
Odera has a background in environmental science with a focus on sustainability and has worked with nonprofits dedicated to environmental justice work for most of her professional career. Recently, she has worked as a consultant to educators and local organizations, helping them obtain grant funds for environmental education programming. She is passionate about engaging the community in diverse and equitable environmental solutions through education. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Chatham University and always seeks to keep learning.
Odera sees education as an opportunity to challenge biases and preconceived notions, encouraging students to engage with unfamiliar perspectives and broaden their horizons. By curating course materials that reflect diverse voices and experiences, Odera seeks to help educators empower students with the tools to become empathetic, culturally competent leaders.
In her spare time, Odera enjoys creating digital art, spending time outdoors, and reading.
