Colby’s role in the Marsal Family School of Education is to partner with students and provide support along their educational journey as they prepare to be future educators. He collaborates with the rest of the Office of Student Affairs to advise undergraduate and graduate students seeking Marsal School degrees and Teacher Certification. He supports students by helping them understand degree requirements, navigate school policies and procedures, and ultimately complete steps to obtain their teaching license.
Colby believes that teaching is the essential profession in our society, and should be accessible without barriers to all. Without educators, no other program at our University, or any other, would be able to stand. That’s why he’s honored to be able to play a small role in encouraging teachers to enter into this noble and rewarding profession that will not only make a difference in their own lives, but in the lives of countless members of our global community.
Colby is originally from Iowa, and went to college in St. Paul, Minnesota. After beginning his career in higher education, he completed a Master’s degree in Post-secondary Education: Student Affairs at the University of Northern Iowa, where he also advised education majors. Throughout his career he’s worked to promote access, and reduce barriers to education. He is proud to be doing so now for the leaders and best!
